Despite Google’s status as a safe (if data hungry) place for our information, a number of new findings are making people think twice about how safe the company’s platforms are against hackers. A new threat has been detected that targets users through Google Calendar, and once it takes hold, it puts your entire account at risk across all of Google’s platforms! In light of this new threat, security researchers are warning users to take extreme caution with any notifications that come through to their accounts....

The Samba CVE-2017-7494 vulnerability is easily exploitable; researchers highlighted that just a line of code could be used for the trigger the flaw under specific conditions: Make file- and printer-sharing port 445 reachable on the Internet, Configure shared files to have write privileges. Use known or guessable server paths for those files. When the above conditions are satisfied, remote attackers can upload any code of their choosing and cause the server to execute it, possibly with unfettered root privileges, depending on the vulnerable platform....

Last year, in a hurry to quickly bring the Galaxy Note 7 to the market, Samsung ended up using faulty batteries on it. After a huge hit in its goodwill, the company made a strong comeback this year with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Now, riding high on the success of its newest flagship, Samsung is once again planning on launching the Galaxy Note 8 earlier than usual. OnePlus is now much more embedded with its BBK Electronics stablemate Oppo, a fact that’s particularly noticeable in the overlay that’s applied onto Android 12. Remix OS ran on PC based hardware (x86) hardware and enabled users to install Android apps. To popularize the OS, the developer had embarked into the consumer electronics market. Motorola is taking that term running with it, as a report says the company’s non-carrier bred model will be dubbed the Moto X re ition. The Moto X is very close to stock Android, with only a few Motorola-built enhancements like voice comms gestures. Samsung today announced its latest generation Exynos chipset based on the 14nm FinFT process: the Exynos 8 Octa. This is the first chip from Samsung to make use of its custom 64-bit ARM v8 cores and feature an integrated Cat.12/13 modem on a single chip. The octa-core chip comprises of four low-power Cortex-A53 cores and four of its custom CPU cores.
